Don's legacy
Donald Lukacik founded Sundown Beach with a clear dream: to create somewhere different — a refuge to disconnect from the noise of the big city and reconnect with what matters. Don loved the sea and he loved Ecuador, and he wanted to share that passion with every guest who walked through the door.
His vision was that here you wouldn't just enjoy nature, but that every person would feel at home — and even learn a little Spanish along the way. That warm, genuine spirit lives on in every corner of the hotel.

The family carries the dream on
Though Don is no longer with us, he left a beautiful legacy in his family's hands. Today the legacy continues in the hands of his wife Alexandra, her two children and her brother, happy to welcome every guest and make them feel — just as Don wished — part of the family.
